Temperatures stayed below freezing longer than anticipated, leading to a surprise icing overnight.

EWU and Spokane Public Schools closed, as well school districts in many surrounding areas and into Idaho including Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene.
The Washington State Department of Transportation announced that all cross state passes were closed due to avalanche issues or potential avalanches.

A driver lost control of an ambulance on Interstate 90, and it went up in flames:
Thankfully, there were no major injuries reported in this accident.
Most of the accidents which occurred were fender benders and people sliding off of roads, with no major injuries.
