Shawn C. Carr is a criminal defense attorney serving the accused in Washington State. Shawn attended the Gonzaga University School of Law. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the Washington Defender Association and the Tribal Court of the Kalispel Tribe. Shawn has worked in private practice and as a public defender for Spokane County, defending indigent clients accused of misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and felonies.
Shawn was born in Royal Oak, Michigan and raised in south east Michigan. He joined the U.S. Navy in 2000 where he spent 8 years as an Aviation Electricians Mate troubleshooting and repairing F/A 18’s. He deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After leaving the Navy, Shawn and his wife Erin moved to Key West, Florida where he worked for Sikorsky Aerospace and completed his undergraduate degree at Saint Leo University.
Being accused of a crime can be one of the most harrowing events in someone’s life and if you are in that position, it is important to remember that the burden of proof is on government to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, not the defendant’s. Shawn is motivated everyday to ensure the prosecution does not forget that his clients are presumed innocent and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
