Three People Injured Car Accident on State Route 17 in Moses Lake

The vast majority of car accidents that happen come from a split-second decision. But more specifically, they happen when another driver makes a poor decision. Unfortunately, this frequently happens when the other driver is older. And that’s exactly what happened in a recent accident in Moses Lake, according to a story from KHQ.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) says that three people were injured in a two-car collision on State Route 17 near Moses Lake on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Deputies responded to the scene around 10:45 a.m., where they found both vehicles in the northbound lane of SR-17. An investigation found that the first car, driven by a 95-year-old man, was stopped on the shoulder. As he tried to reenter the roadway, he sideswiped a Ford Mustang being driven by a 51-year-old woman.

The man and his passenger, an 84-year-old woman, were taken to a local hospital with injuries. The woman in the Mustang suffered more serious injuries in the collision, and was transported to a hospital via Life Flight helicopter. WSP says the man was charged with failure to yield.

What Medical Expenses Can I Get After a Car Accident in Moses Lake?

Stories like the one above show just how wrong a routine outing in Moses Lake can be. Even on less busier roads like SR-17, all it takes for serious injuries is a wrong move by another driver. And with serious injuries come serious medical expenses. But filing an injury claim gives you the opportunity of getting those costs back. Typically, the medical expenses that are available to you are:

  • Emergency transport costs, whether you’re taken by ambulance or by helicopter to the hospital.
  • Emergency room costs for initial evaluation, imaging, and treatment to stabilize your condition.
  • Hospital stay costs, including your room, nursing care, and ongoing medical supervision.
  • Surgical costs for procedures needed to treat serious injuries like internal damage or broken bones.
  • Diagnostic testing costs for CT scans, MRIs, X-rays, and other lab work used to assess your injuries.
  • Medication costs for prescriptions and treatments used during your hospital stay and recovery.
  • Rehabilitation and therapy costs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, or other recovery services.
  • Medical equipment costs for items like braces, crutches, or other supplies used during recovery.
  • Specialist care costs for visits with doctors like orthopedic specialists or neurologists.
  • Follow-up visit costs to monitor your recovery and adjust your treatment plan.

Every situation is different, but the key is that you have options for getting medical costs (and other costs) taken care of through the legal process. And while you’re not required to bring in a lawyer, having someone in your corner can make a real difference when the bills start stacking up and the insurance company gets involved.
