State Route 27 is one of the busiest roads in Spokane County, and it’s not surprising that so many car accidents happen there every day. But even a seemingly ordinary drive can end tragically. And that’s unfortunately what happened on Sunday, April 12, 2026, according to a story from KREM and Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Deputies said that one person was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision on SR-27. An initial investigation found that one car was heading north on SR-27 when the driver crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with the second car. The first car then continued on until the third car collided with it in the southbound lane.
Between the three vehicles, one person was killed and four others were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. WSP says drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the collision.

What Information Helps a Car Accident Claim?
A story like the one above isn’t uncommon. Car accidents are an unfortunate part of living and driving around Spokane County, especially on SR-27. And while every accident is different, there’s one thing that stays consistent: there’s going to be information that you’ll need to move forward.
This is obviously harder when you’re more seriously injured—or you’re trying to move forward after a loved one loses their life in the collision, but generally, a claim is going to rest on things like:
- Pictures/videos of the accident scene, showing vehicle damage, skid marks, road conditions, and injuries.
- WSP’s report, which covers the basics of where the accident happened, the date/time, cars involved, and insurance information.
- Medical records showing injuries tied directly to the collision.
- Bills and expenses, including medical bills, car repairs, etc.
- Insurance information, that includes your auto coverage and the same information from the other driver(s).
- Witness statements from bystanders, passengers, or anyone else that saw what happened.
Again, what you’re able to get in terms of information is going to change from situation to situation, but it’s a combination of these things that are going to form the foundation of your car accident claim. However, deciding to move forward can be challenging. That’s when our Spokane car accident lawyers at Crary, Clark, and Domanico can step in and help you.
