DUI accidents are dangerous for everyone involved, but ironically, the person that’s driving under the influence often comes away with less serious injuries than others involved. Frustratingly, it’s often the person that’s not driving under the influence that suffer serious injuries.
A Medical Lake man suffered life-threatening injuries after another man allegedly ran a stop sign and collided head-on with his vehicle. According to the story from Big Country News, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department (SCSD) responded to the accident in the early morning hours of December 25, 2023. The SCSD arrived on the scene of the accident at Stanley and Ladd Streets. The initial investigation concluded that an 18-year-old male driving a Ford F-250 collided with another male driving a silver Ford sedan traveling north. Investigators say the 18-year-old was driving well over the posted 25 mile per hour speed limit when the accident happened.
Emergency crews transported the sedan driver to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. SCSD later found that the 18-year-old had previously been arrested for a DUI in June 2022. He is currently being charged with felony vehicular assault for the above-accident.
