Two Injured in Felony Hit-and-Run Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 395 North of Spokane

April 2, 2025

Usually, the more cars that are involved in a crash, the higher the probability is that there will be injuries. This is true no matter what the underlying cause of the accident is, but as a recent story from KREM shows, injuries and damage are only increased when impaired driving is what led to the accident.

At least two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 395 near Deer Park on Monday, March 31, 2025. WSP deputies responded to the scene of the initial collision at milepost 174, where they say that a 33-year-old woman was heading north on Highway 395 when she struck a car carrying a driver and two passengers. The woman continued driving, where she later struck two other cars and a utility pole before WSP stopped her.

She was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center and was charged with reckless driving and felony hit-and-run. WSP also believes that drugs or alcohol were believed to be a cause of the accident. At least one other person was injured in the collisions, but their condition is currently unknown.

What Legal Options Do You Have If You’re Hurt in a Hit-and-Run Accident?

Accidents like the one above are unfortunately common in Spokane and the surrounding area, especially when drugs and alcohol are involved. Thankfully, the driver in the story above was found, but even if you’re in a hit-and-run accident and you can’t find the driver, you still have options.

However, the process is a bit different in that situation. First and foremost, the driver that hits you and flees the scene is liable for covering your damages. The problem is, without finding them, you can’t file a claim against their insurance. So, how do you get your damages covered? The answer depends on the situation, but usually you need to rely on your own insurance if you can’t find the driver. This means going with the following options:

  • Uninsured motorist (UM) claim – If your car insurance includes UM coverage, it can help pay for medical bills, lost wages, and other damages. This is the same process as a normal car accident claim, you just go through your insurance company.

  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or MedPay – These optional coverages can help cover medical expenses, no matter who was at fault for your accident.

  • Health insurance – Your health insurance may cover your medical bills, though you’ll still need to handle deductibles and copays.

The best way to recover full financial support after a hit-and-run is to track down the driver, but that’s not always possible. It’s incredibly frustrating to find yourself in this situation, so that’s why it’s important to have an experienced legal team on your side to provide you with guidance and support.
