There’s a lot of different factors that go into a typical car accident in Spokane County–everything from the time of day to what the other driver was doing. But more often than not, it’s the same factors that come up time and again. And this is what happened in a recent car accident, according to a story from KHQ.
Washington State Patrol deputies say that two 17-year-olds were injured in a three-car collision that happened on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The initial collision happened when a 45-year-old man was driving north on Highway 395 when he lost control of his car, drove through a ditch, then collided with a car stopped at a stop sign on West Russell Lane after he made it back up onto the roadway. The impact pushed the stopped car into another car behind it. The two 17-year-olds in that second car were taken to a local hospital with injuries.
The 45-year-old man attempted to escape the scene on foot, but he was quickly apprehended by police. He was then arrested and charged, and it’s suspected that he was under the influence at the time of the collision.

What Information Should I Get From the Scene of a DUI Car Accident?
One of the hardest things about any car accident is the part that comes right after the accident happens. Usually, the other driver is at least alert enough to give you their basic information. But in situations like the story above, the driver will either be unwilling or not able to give you what you need. You’re not stuck, though, there’s things you can get yourself:
- Police help. The first thing you’ll need to do is report the accident to police and tell them if you think the other driver is impaired. They’ll make a report that notes signs of intoxication, run tests, and include their observations of the scene—evidence that becomes central to your claim.
- Information from the driver (if it’s safe). If the situation is safe and the driver isn’t aggressive, try to get:
- Their name
- Phone number
- Insurance details
- License plate number
- Any comments they make (“I only had two drinks” is important to note)
You don’t need to confront them—just get the basics. Anything they say or do that hints at impairment can matter later.
- Pictures/videos. Take pictures and videos of everything—damage, skid marks, the inside of the other driver’s car, open containers, beer bottles on the floorboard, anything that feels “off.” If there are witnesses, get their contact information before they leave.
Don’t forget about your own health. Even if you feel “okay,” let EMTs look you over at the scene. Follow up with a doctor, too. Those records tie your injuries directly to the crash. Later on, when the insurance company tries to downplay how hurt you are, those medical records become your strongest proof of your injuries. From there, it’s about getting the right help, and our team of Spokane car accident lawyers will be ready.
