Motorcycle on Motorcycle Accidents Injures Three in Spokane Valley

April 8, 2025

No matter how careful you are when you’re riding a motorcycle, you’re unfortunately at risk for being in an accident. Most of the time, you have to be wary of other drivers you share the road with. But sometimes, you even have to be wary of other people on motorcycles. Not surprisingly, this increases the risks of being injured. And that’s exactly what happened recently in Spokane Valley, according to a story from the Spokesman-Review.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) deputies responded to the scene of a motorcycle on motorcycle accident near the Sullivan exit of Interstate 90 in Spokane Valley on Friday, April 6, 2025. Once there, they found three people injured. According to a preliminary investigation, there were two drivers and two passengers on each motorcycle. A 46-year-old man and 35-year-old passenger were headed west on Interstate 90 around 8:00 p.m. when they collided with another motorcycle driven by a 26-year-old with a 23-year-old passenger. The 26-year-old driver of the second motorcycle was unhurt, but his passenger, as well as both the man and woman on the other motorcycle were all hurt and transported to a local hospital with injuries.

WSP said that all involved were wearing helmets, and the section of I-90 was closed for around 3 hours while crews cleared the scene. The 46-year-old man driving the first motorcycle was arrested under suspicion of vehicular assault.

Can You File a Claim When Another Motorcyclist Causes Your Accident?

Although it’s pretty unique, being in a motorcycle accident caused by another motorcyclist still gives you the chance to file an injury claim. At that point, it’s just like any other vehicle accident, which means you can potentially recover financial support by filing:

  • An insurance claim or a personal injury lawsuit.

If the other rider has homeowner’s or renter’s insurance, that policy might help cover your damages—even if the accident happened on the road. You may also be able to use your own insurance, depending on the coverage you have.

If the other rider doesn’t have insurance–or your injuries are serious–your best option might be to file a personal injury lawsuit. This puts your case in front of a judge, and gives you a better chance at full damages, which can cover your:

  • Medical bills and ongoing care
  • Lost income if you had to miss work
  • Motorcycle repair or replacement costs
  • Pain and suffering
  • Emotional distress
  • Loss of enjoyment of life
  • Funeral costs, in cases of fatal accidents

Every accident is different–even ones caused by someone else on a motorcycle. You still only have two years from the date of the accident to file a claim in Washington. If you’re unsure what steps to take, our team can help you sort through your options and get the support you need.
