Pedestrian Injured in Hit-And-Run on North Market Street in Spokane

September 27, 2018

A hit-and-run crash in Spokane severely injured one person on September 20, 2018.

According to KHQ-Q6, this collision happened at North Market Street’s 7200 block at about 5:30PM. As a Jeep Wrangler was turning north from Wilding to Market Street, a southbound Ford Explorer allegedly hit the Jeep, drove off the road into a parking lot, and struck a pedestrian.

First-responders rushed the injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, doctors believe the pedestrian will survive his injuries.

The driver of the Ford apparently got out of the car and ran away from the scene. Police are now asking from help from the community to find this drive who they believed caused the crash.

The Ford Explorer involved in this crash was a red 1997 model. Anyone with further info on this crash should call local authorities at (509) 477-3237.

After a Hit and Run

Hit-and-run crashes are reaching epidemic proportions across the USA. A recent study from AAA found that there have been at least 682,000 hit-and-runs between 2006 and 2016. In 2016 alone, 2,049 people were killed in hit-and-run crashes, which is one of the highest on record. While there’s never an acceptable reason to run, some drivers who flee the scene are uninsured and/or intoxicated.

After a hit and run crash, be sure to speak to an attorney who can help explore how you may be compensated for your injuries. Drivers in Washington State are required to carry liability insurance. Even if the driver is caught and had this insurance, it’s still sometimes inadequate. Motorists and even pedestrians who have uninsured motorist coverage may be able to be compensated by their own insurer after an injury or a hit and run injury in the event the driver who caused the wreck and ran away is never captured.
