Failure to yield accidents can be some of the most devastating crash types because of the violence of the crash. Typically one of the cars is traveling at full speed while another car either turns in in the car’s path or just fails to get out of the when they were supposed to. The collision can be severe and cause great damage to the vehicles and serious injury to the victims.

Driver Fails to Yield Causing Serious Crash in Lewiston

An example of a failure to yield crash happened Tuesday morning on U.S. 95. According to the Idaho State Police, the driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt attempted to enter U.S. 95 from Nez Perce Road. He entered the path of a Chevrolet pickup truck which struck him broadside.

Police say that the driver of the Cobalt was taken to a local hospital, and his condition is unknown. It’s not known at this time if the driver of the pickup truck was injured.

Types of Failure to Yield Crashes

A failure to yield crash can happen in just about any setting. On any given street or highway, cars are traveling very close to one another seemingly narrowly missing each other. However, drivers follow right-of-way rules that keep cars from colliding. When this breaks down, a failure to yield crash occurs. Some of the most common types of failure to yield crash are:

  • Left Turn into Path of Vehicle
  • Right Turn into Path of Vehicle
  • Car broadsides vehicle that attempted to cross an intersection
  • Rear-end Crash
  • Lane Change
  • Head-On Collision
  • Merge Accident
