Pit Bull Attack in Puyallup injures UPS Driver

Pit Bulls. Lots of people love them. Are they more likely to attack than another breed? Statistically, yes. In pit bull’s defense, there are dozens of completely different breeds people call “pit bulls”, and all of them are usually significantly different than the “American Pit Bull Terrier”, which many call the original pit bull. Even that is confusing to many, as that dog is not technically a terrier. The result is, lots of people who own pit bulls have absolutely no idea what kind of dog they have, do not know its temperament, and may even leave their dogs outside or have multiple dogs. This is a disaster waiting to happen because working animals need a significant amount of exercise and socialization. When dog’s basic needs of this kind of stimulation and training are not met, the results are completely unpredictable. The law knows this. Even a dog which has never shown any previous signs of aggression can still attack and the owners can be held liable.

Unfortunately, in September 2017, a UPS driver was attacked by FOUR pit bulls. According to KREM2, thankfully the driver is expected to live. The article says that firefighters needed to ram through a barrier to rescue the UPS driver from the attack.

This is usually one of the worst fears a driver for the US Postal Service, UPS or FedEx has. No matter how careful and alert they are, dog attacks still occur, and these delivery people are visiting more and more homes dropping off all of those Amazon Prime packages.
