Car Crashes In The USA And Washington State

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that 32,000 Americans are killed and another 2 million are injured in car accidents every year. That means at least 90 Americans die every day due to traffic accidents. These figures are two times higher than traffic fatalities in most other industrialized nations.

Recent data shows there are about 540 fatal crashes and almost 2,000 serious injury accidents in Washington State every year. Approximately 40 of those fatal crashes and 120 serious injury crashes were in Spokane County.

Failure to yield is a common and easily avoidable cause of serious car crashes. Please keep in mind that proper yielding means you shouldn’t cause anyone else to change their speed or direction due to your car’s position. This is especially important to keep in mind when yielding before an unprotected left turn. If you need more tips on yielding, you could check out this video put together by igottadrive.com.
