Spokane’s Record Breaking 2017 Snowfall Results in Icy Roads and Accidents

November 6, 2017

November 5, 2017, the first snowfall of the season has arrived. It also happens to be a new record, as we received 3.2″ at Spokane International Airport. The previous record was set in 2013 and was 1.9″.

In virtually every part of the country, there are an abnormal amount of accidents when the first snowfall occurs, and it is no different in Spokane. Thankfully, most of the accidents we heard about were simply people losing traction and sliding into the ditch.

Most of the city was cleaned up by morning but the northern side and County areas had several very icy spots.

Drivers should slow down to compensate for current road conditions, even if it means going below the road’s speed limit. Going too fast or not leaving enough room between your car and other cars are potential scenarios when a driver could be negligent.
