On September 15, 2018, a three-vehicle crash north of Lapwai injured two drivers.
According to KHQ-Q6, this accident took place on Highway 95 by milepost 304 just before 3:15AM. Allegedly, the driver of a Dodge Durango headed north turned left and crashed head-on into a southbound Ford Escape. Another car traveling south couldn’t brake in time to avoid the crash and ended up rear-ending the Ford.
First-responders transported the drivers in the Dodge and Ford to local hospitals. Thankfully, doctors say both of these crash victims will survive their injuries. The third driver involved in this accident didn’t need medical attention.
Police say they are still investigating the cause of this crash.
The Dangers Of Turning Left
Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that over 35 percent of car crashes happen at intersections. Approximately 480,000 intersection crashes in the USA per year involve one car turning left.
