While we hope that no parent ever experiences such terrifying news, people should know that their own automobile insurance may cover bodily injuries from a hit and run driver. Children are covered if you have uninsured motorist insurance. UIM insurance isn’t mandatory in Washington; you pay a separate premium for this coverage. It’s always a good idea as around 16% of drivers in Washington are driving around with no insurance, and unfortunately some drivers do not stop once hitting someone.

If you have uninsured motorist coverage and have experienced minor injuries, your insurer may happily pay your claim. When there are serious injuries, some insurers may turn into your adversary. When this happens. they could raise several defenses in attempts to deny or limit coverage.
