A Coeur d’Alene car accident on Tuesday involving a Chevy SUV and a GMC Terrain severely injured one passenger.
According to the Coeur d’Alene Press, this crash happened on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 before 12:00PM at an intersection on Northwest Boulevard near Interstate 90. Allegedly, the GMC driver sped through a red light and crashed into the SUV as it drove south through a green light.
There were three passengers and one dog in the SUV at the time of the crash. Only one passenger sustained major injuries from this crash. Thankfully, everyone else in this crash only sustained minor injuries.
How Common is Red Light Running?
Even a child can understand that a green light means “go” and a red light means “stop.” Although this rule couldn’t be more simplistic, you’d be surprised how many serious traffic accidents are caused by a failure to yield to red lights.
American Traffic Solutions estimates that at least two people die every day in a car crash where one driver ran a red light. At least 126,000 Americans are injured annually in accidents where the primary cause of the accident is a failure to stop at a red light.
To add to this data, AAA discovered in a recent survey that running a red light isn’t as uncommon as most of us would like to believe. Even though 93 percent of American respondents said they felt running a red light was “unacceptable,” 36 percent admitted to speeding through a red light within the past 30 days!
As you can see, running red lights is unfortunately quite common in the USA. It’s important to get in touch with an experienced Car Accident Lawyer if you’re ever involved in a red light-running-related car accident to ensure you get the coverage you’re deserved.
