State Route 904 in Cheney is a nice stretch of road to drive. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, a man allegedly walking on the road was hit and injured. According to an article on KREM, the pedestrian was hit just outside of Cheney and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center, which has a trauma center equipped to handle serious injuries.
What caused this accident?
At the time of this article, it is not clear if the pedestrian was walking along the side of the road, crossing, or walking in traffic. The KREM article states that “According to the Washington State Patrol, the cause of the crash was a pedestrian violation. No charges have been filed.” However, if you have driven on highway 904 you have probably noticed that there aren’t exactly many crosswalks.
Compensation for pedestrian injuries
When serious injuries or fatalities are involved with any type of accident, it is important to speak to an experienced Spokane County personal injury attorney. After an accident, many insurance companies are going to tell you that YOU are at fault and attempt to avoid paying for your medical bills or injuries which may affect you the rest of your life.
In the State of Washington, if a driver is even partially at fault for an injury, you may be able to be compensated for your injuries. In other cases, even if you are 100% at fault as a pedestrian, you may still be able to file a claim with your own insurance company.
