On Friday, February 17, 2017, a car accident occurred on Highway 2 near Bear Lake. A driver’s vehicle allegedly crossed the center line and drove into oncoming traffic, hitting another oncoming car head on. The 2 occupants of that vehicle along with the driver who crossed into oncoming traffic we all transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center, a trauma center where many people injured in and around Spokane and Chattaroy go after a car accident.

Most head on collisions involve negligence
Head on collisions often result in very serious injuries or fatalities, and most of them are preventable.
A KREM article covering this accident says “Authorities said the cause of the crash was inattention and negligent driving charges will be filed.”
Sometimes cars are driving too fast for the conditions and cross into oncoming traffic. In other cases, a driver is sleep deprived or driving while intoxicated. Sometimes, people are looking at their phone instead of the road. Whatever the reason, negligence is usually a factor.
